    Collapse overview
James D. Marsh, M.D. is the Nolan Professor and chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine in the College of Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). He directs the overall clinical, research and teaching activities of nine medical divisions with over one hundred faculty members. Dr. Marsh attended Harvard College in Cambridge, Mass., majoring in chemistry and graduating magna cum laude. He attended Harvard Medical School and received his internal medicine training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, subsequently completing clinical and research training in cardiovascular diseases, also at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. In 1980 he joined the faculty at Harvard Medical School, where he rose through the ranks to the position of associate professor. He served as director of the cardiology fellowship program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital for 13 years. In 1993, he moved to Wayne State University in Detroit as a professor of medicine. There he was appointed director of the Division of Cardiology and associate chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine.
