Overview Dr. Meryll Pampolina is an assistant professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). She graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine 6-year program in 2016 and completed her residency training at UAMS in 2019 before joining the faculty. While in residency, Dr. Pampolina became interested in mentorship and developed a new “family” mentorship system for the residency program. During her final year of training, she received the American Association of Women Emergency Physicians “Resident Rocks It” award and the Academy for Women in Academic Emergency Medicine “Outstanding Resident Award and Travel Grant.” As junior faculty, Dr. Pampolina was recently featured on the cover of Arkansas Next highlighting her path to a career in medicine.
Dr. Pampolina’s interests include mentorship, leadership, feedback, women in medicine, and resident and medical student education.?? She has given talks at SAEM and Arkansas state-wide educational conferences on mentorship-- specifically mentorship of the millennial generation--. She is the Director of Emergency Medicine Residency Feedback, Co-Chair of the Emergency Medicine Residency Clinical Competency Committee, Faculty Director of the Women of EM group at UAMS, and Division Leader for the Emergency Department’s Diversity, Equity, and Equality Committee. Dr. Pampolina also serves as the Co-Course Director of the MS2 Practice of Medicine course at the UAMS College of Medicine. Dr. Pampolina plays an active role in CORD (member of the CORD Faculty Development Subcommittee) and SAEM (member of AWAEM Didactics committee).
