Dr. Thrush has worked in academic healthcare settings since 1991, and has published more than 60 scientific journal articles spanning educational, social and behavioral sciences, health services, and medical education research domains.

She has served as a Co-PI on an NIH NCRR grant, along with Dr. Brian Martinson, to establish psychometric properties of a survey to assess organizational research climate and as a consultant on a recent VA HSR&D grant to assess methods of feedback from this survey to VA leaders. She has consulted with many entities regarding measuring the organizational climate for research integrity, including the Council of Graduate Schools, Michigan State University, Epigeum, and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Specific highlights of grant funded research involvement include:

Title: “An RCT to Test Reporting and Feedback to Foster Research Integrity Climates”

This project provided insights into perceptions of professional behaviors from the perspective of medical students, faculty and residents.

Title: Propagating the Uniform Research Integrity Climate Assessment (U-RICA)
    NIH National Center for Research Resources 1 R21 RR025279-01, 9/1/08 – 9/1/10.
Martinson, Brian; Thrush, Carol (Co-PIs) My role: Co-PI
This project provided concrete materials and mechanisms to help academic health centers foster and maintain climates and cultures supportive of research integrity.

Title: Enhancing the Professional Culture of Schools of Medicine
Indiana University School of Medicine Relationship-Centered Care Initiative - Immersion Conference II, 05/2007.
Shorey, Jeannette (PI). My role: Co-I and conference participant
