8800 (July 1, 2018-April 30, 2019). I am the #4 RVW producer among the 115 members of the Medical Specialties Service Line. YTD Target RVW% of Median: 170%. I dropped to #4 because Dr. Krishna Pothineni took away some of my workload. I see 2-10 new inpatient EP consults every day and 10-15 outpatient clinic patients each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoon. As of June, 2017, I am working as the only clinical cardiac electrophysiologist, after Dr. Maskoun left at the beginning of March, 2017, and Dr. Sewani left at the end of May, 2017. I had 97.4 % clinic utilization from July 1, 2018 to April 30, 2019, as the 2nd member of the Division of Cardiology for clinic utilization. 5-Star Rating as of 5/1/17: 4.57. Please describe any new clinical programs or activities in the past year: By hiring and working with our former EP fellow Dr. Krishna Pothineni closely, we increased the EP Lab volumes by 73% between July, 2018 and February, 2019. As of March, 2017, I added a new Thursday PM clinic to cover and not to lose the patients of departed faculty members Drs. Sewani and Maskoun. I had 97.4 % clinic utilization from July 1, 2018 to April 30, 2019, and am the 2nd member of the Division of Cardiology in clinic utilization. I had 18 Medicine Residents and 6 Cardiology fellows see patients with me in my clinics and I read 10 ECG’s with them systematically at the end of each clinic. As the Director of the Heart Station, between July 1, 2017 to May 31, 2018, I read approximately 50% of all the ECG’s in the Division of Cardiology and at UAMS. I overread and assured that all the ECG’s are read within 24 hours. During the same period, I read all the Holter and Event Monitors at UAMS. As of July, 2016, I teach 2-3 senior medical students per month how to read ECG’s systematically and analyze rhythm strips. I taught 63 senior medical students and 1 APRN student how to read ECG’s and Holter ECG/event monitors. For continuity of care and also lack of other EP physicians, I started to see all the EP consultations at UAMS 4 days/week, unless I am on vacation. I started to teach 2nd and 3rd year Medicine Residents how to read ECG’s and how to take care of Arrhythmia patients in this new rotation titled: “ECG Reading and Arrhythmias”. 7 Residents elected this rotation in 2018-19 academic year. Quality Improvement Activity for Department/Division, College of Medicine, Clinic or Hospital (Please describe role): During May, 2018, our EP fellow Dr. Ahmed Hussein, called every ablation patient 1 week after their procedures and made sure that their groins are OK and they don’t have any more palpitations. I am in the Telemetry Improvement Committee, UAMS, since April 2014 to present. EP fellows and I try to attend the monthly M and M conference of the Division of Cardiology, as much as our long EP procedures allow. Most significant clinical contribution to the Department/Division during last reporting period: By hiring and working with our former EP fellow Dr. Krishna Pothineni in harmony, we increased the EP Lab volumes by 73% between July, 2018 and February, 2019. I am the 4th RVW producer in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine and also the Medical Specialties Service Line among 115 faculty. I was selected to the Best Doctors in America, 2019-2020 List as a result of nomination by my peers in January, 2019.
I am the 2nd highest RVU procedurer in the new CV Service Line with close to 8000 RVU's during this unprecedented academic year 2020-21, by the end of April, 2021. I have started a new Syncope Clinic every Thursday afternoon and I see at least four new consultations and my schedule is booked until mid-July, 2021. Even my heart rhythm specialist colleagues refer their syncope patients to me. I have added the clinical responsibilities of Team 1 attending physician and Cardiology/EP consultation attending since July, 2020, which allowed me to demonstrate my clinical and teaching skills and experience in general cardiology as well as patients with heart rhythm problems. Today, I have learned that I have been included among the Top Doctors in 2021, to be featured in the Arkansas Magazine as a Top Cardiologist representing Little Rock, AR.

12 YEARS OF ELECTROPHYSIOLOGY RESEARCH AT UAMS

I have had 60 of my 69 peer reviewed publications, with the guidance of Dr. Jay Mehta and contributions of many faculty, fellows, residents and medical students. As a result of this teamwork, we have been honored to receive the Dr. James Marsh Research Award in 2021.

Our two main manuscripts were database driven large population studies that were published in Circulation. However, we have also published many purely UAMS patient database driven studies.

Our recently published case report in JAMA has paved the way for our study titled: “The Sensitivity of Graphic Trends in Differentiating Sinus and Supraventricular Tachycardia”, which will be published in the Journal of Electrocardiology.

The future of our Electrophysiology research efforts at UAMS will utilize Artificial Intelligence to guide us place the left ventricular lead to the best spot in the heart in our NIH sponsored study.

I have trained how to implant ICD's to 3 Interventional Cardiologists from Pine Bluff, AR, in 2010, and they have been referring all of their EP patients to me over the last 11 years.

I have visited many centers, gave talks and met with many cardiologists in Arkansas, such as Pine Bluff, Mountain View, Forth Smith, Batesville, Fayetteville, and Jacksonville; Memphis, TN and Shreveport, Louisiana over the last 12 years to advertise Heart Rhythm Services at UAMS and increase referrals to both UAMS and CAVHS.

I get on TV with a patient story during the Heart Awareness Month of February, since 2011.
