overview Dr. Thea Rosenbaum is a board-certified anesthesiologist and Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at UAMS. She serves as Associate Medical Director and Chief Quality Officer for the Interventional Service Line where she works to facilitate clinical goals and to provide the highest quality patient care across the service line and within her Department. After graduating high school she earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the North Georgia College and State University in Dahlonega, GA with magna cum laude distinction. She went on to pursue her lifelong goal of becoming a physician when she graduated from Emory University with her Doctorate of Medicine. Dr. Rosenbaum joined UAMS in 2006 to complete two years of general surgery residency training in addition to full residency training in Anesthesiology. She joined the UAMS faculty in 2011 and has been active as a clinician, teacher, and mentor. She enjoys teaching medical students and resident physicians, doing this not only in the lecture hall but through development of a hands-on residency curriculum within the Department of Anesthesiology. Her academic interests include clinical and research practice in trauma medicine, transfusion medicine, and regional anesthesia. Dr. Rosenbaum is active in research and has a bibliography spanning academic journals in both the United States and Europe. She also performs editorial work as a peer reviewer for major national journals in anesthesiology and also for international medical forums. She is an active member of numerous professional medical societies and was recently appointed as an Arkansas state delegate to the American Society of Anesthesiologists. Among numerous honors while in Arkansas, Dr. Rosenbaum is most proud of being the honorary recipient of a major monetary gift to the UAMS Department of Surgery. Inspired by this, she herself actively gives back to UAMS not only in her service work, but also as a financial contributor to the UAMS Department of Anesthesia Foundation. Outside the operating room, Dr. Rosenbaum enjoys spending time with her husband, Dr. Eric Rosenbaum, M.D., M.P.H., who serves as an Assistant Professor of Pathology at UAMS, Medical Director of Microbiology, and Section Chief for Clinical Testing at the Arkansas State Health Laboratory. The two met while at Emory University School of Medicine and now continue their careers as 10-year Arkansans dedicated to the health of our state and missions around the world. They share their home with an unusually hospitable cat, Mikhail d’ St. Martin, who is convinced he is the house maître d'. Dr. Rosenbaum also enjoys traveling, cold water swimming, workouts, and is a sports car enthusiast.
