Overview Affiliation Metabolomics Society American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Metabolomics Association of North America (MANA)
Teaching Research My laboratory is interested in biomarker discovery using global metabolite profiling (metabolomics). We use metabolomics to identify the “metabotype” that are consisting of oxidized lipids and metabolites in patients and animal models hoping to find early indicators of chemotherapy-induced cardiotoxicity and cognitive impairments in breast cancer patients. We also work on addressing the issue of cigarette smoking especially menthol cigarette smoking that’s contributing to the disparity of lethal prostate cancer in African-Americans, by identifying smoking-related metabolomics patterns associated with highly aggressive prostate cancer in African-Americans compared to European-Americans.
