research overview My research program focuses on uncovering the causes and developing preventive strategies for chronic diseases, particularly breast and other cancers, as well as cardiometabolic diseases such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and metabolic syndrome. I investigate how diet, genetics/epigenetics, and social determinants of health influence the risk and prognosis of these diseases. Furthermore, I aim to reduce disparities in cardiovascular health experienced by cancer survivors following diagnosis and treatment. Ultimately, my goal is to develop evidence-based approaches for the effective prevention and intervention of breast and other cancers and cardiometabolic diseases, while also promoting optimal cardiovascular health in cancer survivors.
