overview Michael Wilson, MD PhD FAAEM FACEP Dr. Wilson is an Associate Professor at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Department of Emergency Medicine with a secondary appointment in the Department of Psychiatry. He currently serves as the Director of the UAMS Department of Emergency Medicine Behavioral Emergencies Research (DEMBER) lab and Director of the UAMS ED Research Associates (ED-RA) program. The DEMBER lab’s research primarily focuses on applied psychiatric emergencies of clinical relevance to emergency physicians, with recent projects on treatment of opioid use disordered patients, screening for opioid use and suicide, and treatment of agitation. He is an associate editor of the Journal of Emergency Medicine, Chair-Elect of the Coalition of Psychiatric Emergencies, and currently serves on the board of directors for the American Association for Emergency Psychiatry. He has published more than 80 peer-reviewed manuscripts, served as editor of 4 textbooks, and has participated on multiple grants in the field of acute behavioral emergencies.
