Dr. Ronald Brimberry graduated from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Medicine in 1981, and was awarded the Winston K Shorey Award as a senior student. He completed his residency at the UAMS Department of Family and Preventive Medicine (DFPM) Family Medicine Residency Program in Little Rock in 1984. At the same institution he completed a Family Medicine Academic Fellowship in 1985. An Assistant Professor from 1985-1991 involved in the DFPM's Predoctoral Education Division, he was instrumental in developing a required 4 week clerkshin in Family Medicine in the College of Medicine curriculum. Dr. Brimberry was awarded tenure and was promoted to Associate Professor at UAMS in 1991. From 1992-1996 Dr. Brimberry served as the Program Director at the UAMS Family Medicine Residency, and served as the Associate Program Director from 1996-1997. Dr. Brimberry received the College or Medicine Red Sash award for six years and received the Outstanding Faculty Teaching Award from the UAMS Little Rock Family Medicine residency graduating class of 1997. From October 1997 through May 2000 Dr. Brimberry was in private practice including inpatient, outpatient, long-term care, and obstetrics at the St. Vincent MetroCentre Health Clinic in Little Rock. Dr. Brimberry returned to full-time academic medicine in June 2000 to join the faculty of the AHEC-NW Family Medicine Residency Program as an Associate Professor in the UAMS Department of Family and Preventive Medicine. He served as the coordinator of the resident didactic curriculum and then, in 2002, Dr. Brimberry became the Medical Director of the UAMS AHEC Northwest Family Medical Center in Springdale. In 2013 he was asked to direct both UAMS NW Family Medical clinics. In medical leadership roles, he has served as the Chairman of the Medicine Department of Northwest Medical Center-Springdale, the Chief of Staff and served on the NMC Board of Directors. In 2019 Dr. Brimberry served for one year as the Interim Program Director for the UAMS NW Family Medicine Residency, and in 2020 he became the inaugural Program Director for the UAMS Regional Centers Family Medicine Rural Track Program in Berryville and Eureka Springs, AR. In 2023 Dr. Brimberry was promoted to Professor in the UAMS Department of Family and Preventive Medicine. Dr. Brimberry enjoys all aspects of the practice of Family Medicine, including chronic disease management, preventive services and women’s health care. He has seen his panel of patients in the UAMS Family Medical Center Springdale since June 2000.
