Overview Dr. John W. Bracey, Jr. is an Orthopaedic Hand Surgeon at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and Arkansas Children’s Hospital specializing in the treatment of upper extremity injuries. His clinical interest include trauma to the hand, wrist and elbow as well as complex peripheral nerve injuries including the brachial plexus.
He earned his medical degree from UAMS where he was awarded the Faculty Key given to the top graduating student. He continued his training at UAMS in their Orthopaedic Residency program where he earned the Residency Leadership and Teaching Award. In July of this year, he completed a fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity at OrthoCarolina in Charlotte, NC under the direction of Dr. Glen Gaston. A significant portion of his fellowship training concentrated on brachial plexus and complex peripheral nerve injuries. He additionally traveled to Florianopolis, Brazil to study under Dr. Jayme Bertelli, an expert in brachial plexus injuries.
In addition to his passion for patient care, Bracey is an avid researcher with interests in hand trauma, wrist arthritis, and peripheral nerve injuries. He’s been published in numerous scholarly journals and has presented his research at multiple national meetings.
