    Doctor Michael Downs was born in Hope, Arkansas and attended Ouachita Baptist University. He earned his doctorate from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He became board certified in family practice in 1985 and received a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine in 1995. He came to the UAMS AHEC Southwest in 2002. He is married and has three children and two grandchildren. His interests include gardening and Civil War history. He enjoys spending time with his family.
