    Dr. Kent Westbrook is Professor of Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). Dr. Westbrook served as the Director of the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute for 15 years (1984-1998) and Interim Chairman of the Department of Surgery for three years (1999-2002). After completing his undergraduate work at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Dr. Westbrook received his Medical Degree from the University of Arkansas College of Medicine (COM) at UAMS. He completed his General Surgery residency at UAMS, a Surgical Oncology fellowship at MD Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute in Houston, Texas, and a Medical Ethics summer fellowship in Palo Alto, California. He is certified by the American Board of General Surgery. Dr. Westbrook is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Southwestern Surgical Congress, Society of Surgical Oncology, Southern Surgical Association, and Arkansas Medical Society. Dr. Westbrook has authored and co-authored many scientific publications. He has served on various national and regional boards including the American Cancer Society, Huntington's Disease Society of America, and Southwestern Surgical Congress. He received the Arkansas Caduceus Club Distinguished Faculty Award in 1978.
