Overview Dr. Sexton is a physician scientist interested in the physiologic response to injury and resuscitation. Dr. Sexton is a general surgeon that completed research fellowships in vascular and neurobiology as they pertain to injury. He completed surgical training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and during his last year served as administrative chief resident. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery, Division of Trauma, Critical Care, and Acute Care Surgery under the leadership of Dr. Ronald Robertson. His clinical focus is general surgery with a particular interest in hernia and laparoscopic surgery. Dr. Sexton's priorities are his marriage, family, excellent patient care, and the alleviation of suffering through scientific investigation.
