Overview Dr. Hohertz left his thriving Texas town of 200 people to attend college at Tarleton State University where he graduated magna cum laude in 2000. He attended graduate school there as well before heading to Texas A &M, where he completed his medical degree in 2005. Despite the Texas-Arkansas rivalry, he braved new boundaries & gained his residency training in emergency medicine at UAMS. After completing residency, Dr. Hohertz returned to his home state where he worked in a high acuity cardiac/stroke center in Fort Worth while teaching students & residents. Yet, Texas couldn't hold him & he tested the waters in the newly built UAMS ED, working a weekend a month in 2009. He returned to UAMS in full capacity in 2010 as an assistant professor, drawn back by his mentors & friends, as well as a desire to teach in the emergency medicine residency he loved. Dr. Hohertz's main interest is emergency ultrasound & he served as director of ultrasound 2012-2013 & continues to help advance the ultrasound program. He has travelled with Dr. Bean internationally, teaching ultrasound & lecturing in the global arena. As his interests also include global medicine, he is a member of the medical team led by Dr. Bean that travels annually to Limon, Honduras to staff a rural primary care clinic & provide care to outlying towns along the Mosquito Coast.
